Hey I'm Bethy..

Growing up, I had a big imagination, felt things deeply and was forever finding myself somewhere between the world around me and the one inside my head. Later, I discovered that I was ADHD and autistic. As a neurodivergent woman, I came to realise that I experience life a little differently from those around me. And perhaps that wasn't such a bad thing.

Films were one of the first things that made sense to me. I was fascinated by their ability to transport us into another world, make us feel something deeply or help us understand an experience beyond our own. Film gave me a way to explore the things I struggled to put into words and, eventually, a language of my own.

After leaving school, I went on to study performing arts at college. In my twenties, I spent time travelling, including in Vietnam, which remains one of my greatest love affairs to this day. I later returned to my studies, completing an International Art Foundation. There, I fell in love with fashion and discovered pole dancing.

Through pole, I discovered a community of women expressing themselves in ways that felt bold, vulnerable, playful and entirely their own. It changed the way I understood femininity and my identity as a woman in the world. I have since become a qualified pole dance instructor and have been teaching for over four years. Supporting and empowering other women has long been a passion of mine.

Filming these women became a turning point in the development of my style. I began to see movement as more than something to document. It could become a language in itself, communicating feelings that words couldn't quite reach. Through light, colour, rhythm and carefully crafted imagery, I could create something that felt less like watching life unfold and more like stepping inside an emotion.

That desire to look beyond the surface followed me into another chapter of my life: living on a narrowboat. Immersed in nature and the wonderfully unconventional community of people living along the waterways, I found beauty in slower living, unexpected friendships and lives that didn't necessarily follow the usual blueprint. Once again, I was drawn to the people whose stories deserved to be seen.

These experiences eventually led me to complete a First Class degree in Filmmaking at Kingston University, graduating in 2025. It was the culmination of years of creative exploration, bringing together my love of visual art, storytelling, movement and the human experience

More Than a Pretty Picture

Bethy's Lens grew from a desire to bring the worlds inside my imagination to life while celebrating the extraordinary stories already unfolding around us.

I'm drawn to work that feels a little different. Rich colour, expressive movement, beautiful light, the textures of the natural world and those heightened, almost dreamlike moments that make ordinary life feel extraordinary. I love creating images that linger with you, not simply because they're beautiful, but because there's something beneath the surface.

My work moves between the real and the imagined, the intimate and the expressive. From documentary-led brand films that reveal the heart of a person or project to fashion, movement and experimental films that explore ideas through imagery, I'm interested in what makes something feel uniquely itself.

At the heart of Bethy's Lens is a desire to share amazing stories and create beautiful work. I'm particularly drawn to independent brands, artists, dancers and creative communities who have something meaningful, unusual or wonderfully human to share. As a female-led, neurodivergent creative business, I care about authenticity, celebrating individuality and making space for voices that might otherwise go unheard.

Because I know what it feels like to experience the world a little differently. And I believe there's something powerful about helping someone else feel seen.

For me, filmmaking has never been just about capturing what something looks like. It's about finding its essence, translating it into something visual and creating a feeling that stays with you long after the film ends.

Bethy's Lens is for the beautifully unconventional.

For the dreamers, the makers, the movers and everyone with a story worth telling.
